[Dailydrool] Sunny update

Today (Friday) is our little Sunshine's 2nd birthday - she's been
here almost 3 1/2 months now and her personality is really
coming out.  Sunny's our 8th basset hound but the only
one we've ever had that is a difficult eater (what is up with
that???) and, thank goodness, our only fence jumper.  A
regular escape artist,  she got out 9 times in one weekend
when she first started doing this - we are so grateful to all
of our neighbors who helped us keep an eye on her as
we blocked off her latest exit only to have her find another
way out.   She is the reason why Bill replaced all the fencing
in the side yard and beefed up the fencing in the back yard
as well as closed off the bottom of our very low deck, all to
keep her corralled in the yard.  And then he's still had to
re-route fencing around trees and add additional posts -
Sunny's even climbed into a tree to get over the fence!  We've
had to double gate the entrance to the living room where she
would jump the single gate and go sit on the white couch to
look out the window or take a nap - she was doing that while
we were out running errands and it took us a while to catch on
to that one.

We've decided that she has a mix of the personalities
of our past bassets now at the Bridge along with her own
little quirks and behaviors - she's brought an enthusiastic,
positive, happy energy into our house which was much needed
after a couple of difficult years.  Bill is totally thrilled with this
busy little girl - if  you went to BHRG's Bash, you'd have
seen Sunny in his lap for a good bit of the afternoon. We've
managed to get 6 lbs. on her in spite of her being a difficult
eater and she's looking much better.  There's still some cowering
from her previous situation but overall she's made herself at home.
Now there are toys all over the basset room and the kitchen again,
our little threesome is  playing chase in the yards and they're
snoozing together in the same bed - we've not had sleeping buddies
since our sweet Dudley went to the Bridge in 2007.

It's amazing what one little skinny hound can accomplish!
