Dear Droolers,
I just intercepted a message from Lily the Lhasa. True, I was ambushed
and taken by Indians (Benghali type) to a hospital, and no, no one had
any orders and there was a lot of confusion, but finally yesterday
someone figured it out and my doctor appeared and said I was supposed to
be getting transfusions for anemia and maybe a colonoscopy (I have an
ongoing battle over such things -the prep solution makes me barf just to
look at). They finally started the 1st unit about 4 pm. I had been in
the hospital since 6 the night before, sleeping on their newest "wonder
bed" that only folded me lengthwise like a fat taco and caused me
tremendous pain) and had been threatening to leave on general principles
since 6 am. First they bribed me with a different bed (they had to go
throw another patient out of his and let him learn how to play taco -
the joint is full) but I was still denied food or water until the doc
said I could have clear liquids - Sprite, Popsicles and sugar-free Jello
- bleh!
Then a guy showed to take me to x-ray I fell down the handicapped ramp
Friday grabbing an escaping cat, who ran back into the house when I
started to fall and discovered incidentally I had broken 5 ribs.
The good thing was the colonoscopy was postponed until my ribs heal, as
the doctor figured we could not get a complete prep with my limited
range of motion, not to mention the pain factor. So they bribed me with
real food so they could give me the 3 units of blood through the night.
I was so tired I slept through all the vitals taking, changes in tubing
and new bags of blood being hung, even my pain meds administration!
The nurse finally woke me at 10 so I could order breakfast. Lunch is
now on its way but no one has told me I can go home. Bob is with me, so
the dogs are without a can or door opener.
I may still be here until Rosh Hoshanah (they keep talking about
Christmas, but that is just a Gentile joke - it is not a significant
holiday for me).
Puppies - your Mommy is fighting hard to break out of this place. Rescue
is coming!
On other fronts- Natalie, congratulations on your Bat Mitzvah, and I am
glad you enjoyed it and made it with good grace.
Drool to all ailing houndies and their people, and best holiday wishes
(whichever you celebrate) to all.
Can I still order a Drool Calendar? I don't have to have it by a
specific date, but I would enjoy meeting the newest batch of Best in Drool.
Dog will see that I get home safely. I have a Beanie Baby Tracker
Basset as my guardian angel on the dashboard of my car.
May the rescues find homes, may the homeless find rescues, and may all
find safety in love.
PC, mother to all things furry and 4-footed (but alas, still basset-less)
