What is with everyone here at work? They think that just 'cause I have
basset hounds, I want ANY hound <grin>!

This morning we were greeted at the office by a bloodhound. Handsome
guy, intact, and emaciated. And everyone came looking for me. Go
figure.

Anyway, got a leash around his collarless neck, and tried to coax him
into the car. That didn't work. So, despite the dress pants and shirt,
I grabbed the big guy and power-lifted him, and put him in the back
seat. I'll pay for that move later, I'm sure...

So, on the short drive home, he was totally at peace. Laid down in
back after less than a minute. When I got home, I didn't want to take
him through the house, so I went straight to the back gate and was
met, obviously, by some very interested bassets. This poor guy was
totally overwhelmed! Now, realize he's twice as tall as the biggest
basset in my home. But he was terrified.

I wrangled my 3 dogs into the house, and got Dexter in his crate (I
still can't trust him home alone - he's about 14 or 15 months old.)
Then I put a collar on the bloodhound, and as much as I detest chains,
I got one out, and chained him to the fence. My 42" high fence is not
going to keep a full size dog from jumping out if he wants too. Then,
of course, I added food and water, and since it's a cool, overcast
day, and he does have shade, and I'll be home for lunch, I abandoned
the boy and returned to work.

When I get home, it's off to the local vet for a scan to see if he's
chipped. If not, I'll call the local shelters and the papers and get
the word out. Another busy day in southern Oregon.

Tim
