I don't see anything wrong with this. Most vets are the equivalent of 
human GP's, not specialists. If there was something questionable in a 
biopsy I had done, I'd certainly want my doctor to check with someone 
who has specialized training in reading biopsy results. I do agree that 
there needs to be better communication from the vet, but do not think 
that firing the vet is warranted unless there have been other issues as 
well.
