[Dailydrool] About Parvo

Momma here. Several years ago Elder Clara was in the hospital, a bout of pancreatitis(sp), she had been there several days, one sick houndette. They had Clara front and center there in the back room while she was hospitalized. That morning I was back there with her, they had just taken out the IV's and were deciding if she could go home. Well, all of a sudden one of the girls came back and said we have a parvo puppy on the way. Well, things back there went from busy to almost preparing a battle zone. One of the vets said prepare the isolation room, get this done, that done, and then she looked at one of the girls that was pregnant and said get your purse and leave the building now. Everyone was dashing about, getting gowns on, I stood there and all I could think of was here was Clara, old, sick and compromised against most anything. I wondered for about a minute if she was at risk, no matter how much they got ready for the sick pup. I really had no clue, but I reached down and grabbed her and the vet said Debbie--what are you doing?? I looked at her and said getting Clara out of here, you have parvo coming in. I knew every precaution in the world was going on, but I still knew that Clara was old, weak from being sick.  I carried Clara out the back door and got her home. I never looked back at that decision, parvo is nothing to mess with. Young and old.
Bev is so right that many folks are letting needed vet care go longer than before. Many are not as informed as us droolin people also. Times are so tight, and many do the best they can. But she sure brings up a good point for all of us to watch who we are sniffin snooters with.
