Just wanted to put it out there that I am not trying to do titers for Santana because of funds being low. I know they cost he has had them before for lyme. I have nevr skipped shots before he has been vacd for eveything including lepto since a puppy every year I know I haven't been on the DD for awhile but I went through a huge ordeal when he went blind in his right eye from glaucoma which then led to us having to remove the eye because pressures raised and he was in pain as treatments with drops was not working anymore. His surgery was in December and just about one month now he has been enjoying no pain and doing the basset 500 and stealing food and socks and toilet paper and being himself again.

I know I might not win the battle of keeping his left eye pain free and seeing but on valentines day the eye doc said his left eye looked really good. Optic nerve and everything and he now thinks we were over treating that eye because we never got a high reading on it except at the ER vet during his surgery recovery. (ER vet fluke maybe) He told me to to hold off on any shots till Santana was stable. This was on feb 14th that he was considered stable.

I been doing research on vacs and glaucoma as well as asking the eye dr. He said Santana should be okay but we never know. His vet techs even said they had seen pressures rise after Lepto vacs. On another board I'm on dedicated to blind dogs this has been brought up and some have had problems.

I'm in a place where I'd hate to put him through high pressures going blind and another surgery in less than 3 mths because of a shot I knew might hurt him. I'd also hate for him to be sick because of a disease a shot could have prevented. I am armed with my ER kit the dr trusted me with to do at home if pressures rise but it's ugly And induces vomiting but it does work. I hope I never have to use it.

I came here to see what others knew about Lepto and titers. I do know I might still have to opt for the shot his immunity is low.

I also can't give him Benadryl if he does have a reaction because that raises pressure like no other. It's a big NO with eye dr and glaucoma dx dogs. I'd have to give steroids in place.

I am not in any way saying not to get dogs vaccinated but I'm between a rock and a hard place. I have got some good info from those who responded. I thank you.

The vet left me a voicemail. She spoke to an epidemiologist and has some things to discuss with me. Ingot home to late to call but will call tomorrow at work.

Mr Pants is now 6 will be 7 in sept. I think someone asked his age.

I do believe in vaccinating I get mad when I see the petsmart people with their new pups on the floor and in the baskets i put toys and such in. So please always discuss vacs with your vet if it's right for your baby. But we do need to educate ourselves.

Thanks everyone for your insight.

Drool and paws together saying prayers for those who need it.
