[Dailydrool] Dexter Doodles

Well, not much new in Dexter's world. He's recovering nicely from his
surgery, no swelling or infection. He's as active as ever, and it's hard to
keep him down. He really hates his e-collar, so instead I'm keeping him
right in front of me and watching him like a hawk. That, he likes: undivided
attention! I put the doggie bed right in front of the TV <grin>.

 

Dexter did have his first foray into the world of retail pet stores! Our
local chain, Mini Pet Mart, is one of my favorite shopping spots, and Dexter
got to come with me. I could hardly keep him off the shelves! He was going
after the bones and snacks like, well, like a hound. And of course he got a
free treat, and lots of pets. He can't help being so cute, can he? Anyway,
we got him a Kong and a NylaBone, and for me there's a big bottle of Bitter
Apple. He chewed on the wall moulding the other day.gotta stop that habit
early. Oh - I also have some antler pieces for him now too. He likes those
best, but I'm watching to be sure he doesn't over-do those.

 

He came to me with Purina Puppy Chow. He doesn't eat that very well. So he's
a little skinnier than I would expect for a 10 month old. But he does like
the older dog's food (Nutro Natural Choice Lamb and Rice Lite - for my
older, heavier girls). I don't know if I should feed him the Lite food or
not. So right now, I'm mixing it 2 cups puppy, 1 cup lite, and he's eating
that right up. Well, sort of. He's eating it, but I do have to stay on him.
This is the first dog I've ever had that doesn't chow down like a vacuum
cleaner! So he pokes around eating while surround by two drooling monsters
and I have to stand there and keep them from scarfing down his food. 

 

Well, it looks like the weather is going to be bad again this week, so I'd
better get the puppy and Leia out for a walk. Maggie doesn't go with us for
the exercise walks - she gets pooped too fast. If I walk her too fast or too
far, she comes home limping. Old bones in that old girl. I know how she
feels.
