Hi Marlene,
I've bought a few t-shirts for my hounds (and converted them to jumpsuits)to take care of episodic itchies. What I found best to do was take a tape measure and take a few measurements of the hound. (If you don't have a tape measure, just use a length of string each place you need to measure--cut it, then hold it against a ruler). For a regular t-shirt, measure around Maggie's ribcage. Then take your ruler to the nearest discount clothing store (here it is Ross Dress for Less; where you are it might be Zayre's or Ame's or ?). Go to either the boys or the girls dept. with your ruler and measure how big around the t-shirts are under the arms. The last time I did this I think I ended up buying a girl's small in the girl's junior department. If you want the t-shirt to cover all of Maggie's belly, measure also from her neck to tail and that will tell you how long the t-shirt needs to be. Both of my boys have waists, bless them, so I needed to take a tuck in
the t-shirts around the middle so the t-shirt didn't drag on the ground there. Again--not hard to do, even if you are not a sewer. Just put the shirt on the dog, then fold up the extra part on each side and safety pin it. Aloha, Val
