Beth, like you I just lurk. However, I just had to go through eye removal with my 8 1/2 year old, Dudley, due to glaucoma (his pressure was at 55!) He came through with flying colors and no, I did not do a prosthesis. My friend, Anne, did one on her basset and said she would not do it again. The reason is that her dog has now lost the other eye and people tend to think she can see because of the prosthesis and don't understand when she doesn't react.

Dudley is on Timolol and Dorzolomide in his good eye to help keep it healthy. The vet ophthalmologist says that should keep us good for about 31 months and then he will probably get glaucoma in that eye, too. It is a virtual certainty.

So, since I wouldn't let my husband tattoo an eye patch on him, Dudley simply adjusts by ignoring everything on the left side of his body and gets along quite well, thank you very much.

Drool to all.....
