[Dailydrool] Jane's latest update

When we went to the nutritionist, she started out by telling us that before she did anything, she was going to check for the ordinary things. That meant doing a urinalysis. Are we glad she did it--Jane's results came back with a serious infection that could be affecting her kidney function. It may not be the whole story, but it's the first thing we have to deal with.

So I'm asking for some additional drool and prayers for Jane. Her BUN and creatinine are so high that she's still not hungry, but we have a new diet for her that I hope will tempt her appetite, once we have gotten more fluids and antibiotics into her in a vet visit this morning.

The nutritionist told me that if Jane were a human, we'd have her on dialysis, so this is not a small problem. She may still have bad kidney damage. In the next few days, she will probably be getting numerous IV or subcutaneous fluids. And of course this is the week when our vet will be away at a meeting, so Jane will probably be dealing with the specialty vets to get it. That girl has always expected only the best.
 
Also, please send drool that Jane will not be so frightened at the vet's. This is the place where she had her unidentified-stomach-object-removal experience, and she seems to expect the worst there. She quaked in a corner the whole time the vet was talking to us and had to be practically dragged out for an examination.
