Basset Hound Rescue of Southern California was relieved to hear the
arrest announcement of a suspect in Buddy's case.  We are devastated that
this crime ever took place and that the suspect is someone who was
entrusted to love and cherish Buddy.  At the same time we are incredibly
grateful for the outpouring of support we have experienced and the
donations that came in to support Buddy. The response from all over the
world has been inspiring.

BHRSC is devoted to the safety and protection of all the hounds in our
care. We take all of the safety precautions possible,holding all adopters
to an extensive screening process and home visit to ensure that our hounds
are going to wonderful, loving homes. This home was no exception. Despite
all our best efforts there are some things, such as this horrific tragedy,
that can never been imagined or foreseen. BHRSC is dedicated to upholding
the highest adoption standards and procedures possible for each of our
hounds.****


Nothing we can do will ever bring Buddy back, but what we can do is use all
donations made in support of Buddy to create a fund for abused hounds; the
sole purpose being to provide medical treatment to dogs who have suffered
abuse. Unfortunately, some of the hounds that come into our care are
victims of abuse.  Reward money that was pledged by Crime Stoppers, In
Defense of Animals and other organizations has remained in their care and
would have been awarded if someone gave information that lead to the
arrest.  Since, this did not happen, the reward money pledged by those
organizations, will remain with them.

We all have so many questions regarding this case. BHRSC lead the campaign
to find Buddy's killer when we were made aware that the Delgado Family
choose to grieve privately.  BHRSC has reached out to them several times
during the course of the investigation, but their responses were limited.
 BHRSC had no inside information regarding this case.  BHRSC could not stay
quiet.  We had to do something and we chose to raise awareness in the
community and that is what happened.  BHRSC sincerely thanks all the
Ventura County authorities involved that collected evidence and diligently
worked on making an arrest.  BHRSC remains committed to Buddy's case and
keeping all of our supporters informed.
