[Dailydrool] Dailydrool Digest, Vol 237, Issue 3

Chris cmerriman9297 at bellsouth.net
Tue Oct 16 14:50:03 PDT 2012

About a basset after a spleenectomy: our Onslow, now ten, had a 7 1/2 pound (!) tumor removed, along with the spleen, about a year and a half ago. Miraculously, he never looked back. After a very smooth healing process, he is just his old self. He has always been quite lean for a bassie and still is, although he eats like a little piggy; he is also playful and happy and well. He needs no special care. "I don't need your stinkin' spleen!" Good luck to you all and lots of drool. Chris Merriman, and Onslow, Daisy, and Rose.

This photo was taken when both were younger. Today both have distinguished white faces. Harley still licks Bo's eyes and ears for him, though, and Bo still gives a disdainful squint at the process. Our Dexter was just diagnosed with an enlarged spleen and it will probably have to be removed. We are waiting for his blood work results. Dexter is our senior rescue, and best guess of age is 9-10 years old. What will he require after the surgery? We have an excellent vet, but I wanted to see if any of you have had a baby with this problem and how is life after the surgery going to be for our Dexter.

>Soft heartfelt snooter kisses and hugs are being sent over the many miles across the states from kansas to Virginia after reading about Sister Daisy making her final trip to the bridge. Elder Clara will be waiting to greet her with open paws and what a greeting that will be. We know that there is a very big empty space in your hearts and hopefully with time and good memories of both Cara and Daisy, that the hole?and hurt will heal. Many hugs.
