there are 3 dogs who live here.  buster, miss sally & lowla (a long term foster).  buster thinks he is the alpha.  snarks around yells at everything..thinks his command presence is awesome.  it isn't.  sally is the anti-alpha.  she scares nothing but herself.  she does growl when she has a good treat & they leave her alone but mostly because they are laughing so hard about it.  other timers buster just comers over & rips the treat out of her mouth before she even realizes what happened.

lowla.  she is the alpha bitch.  of the world.  lowla rules with a kind but firm paw.  she watches over her flock & makes sure they are safe at the park.  buster thinks he is in charge & they let him think that because he was the 1st but if push comes to shove it is miss thing.  she defends the others in the pack..even the non-bassets.  they can not be played with to rough or she is right there in the mix protecting them.  took on a huge ridgeback who was playing with "her" ivy (a 100 lb pointer/st bernard girl who stays with us)..she thought ivy was in trouble so she read the ridgeback the riot act & made him cry.

she struts across the park watching over the assorted members & little ones come to her (as well as the whole pack ) because they know it is a safe group..so what started as 3 bassets, then 2 more from friends, 1 more added in now has an eclectic mix of dogs in it.  the best is when they all chase huskies or boxers because buster does.  so as a group they charge across the field.  the big, small , mixed & loud.  if it is a real threat..lowla is right in front.

but this same girl will slide over to a special needs kid or adult & let them pet her & love on her.  & heaven help the dog that approaches that child.  they have to first prove to lowla they mean no harm.  she is very firm about her charges.  seriously she doesn't care if it is their dog.  i have seen her go right to a child & sit with them.

just to be fair..i have also seen lowla yank the shorts off of about 7 people at the park as well.  you are petting her or playing & you stop...but she is not done..so she slides around behind you & oops your tightly whities are showing!
& we won't mention her passion for bubble baths.

come to think of it...lowla could just as easily parachute out of the chopper with james bond.  no issues at all.  he would how ever have to be careful or he would end up like prince harry...
