Last night I took our Delilah Belle and Dozer for their last walkie of the day around the backyard and both were fine. An hour or so later as I was reading some e-mail on the computer Delilah walked slowly into the office, head down and sat near me, very unlike her. She wouldn't lift her head so I lifted it for her. When I looked more carefully at her face I noticed that both third eyelids were over her eyes. There was no swelling or inflammation that I could see, nor any drainage. She didn't grimace when I palpated over the area nor any other part of her body. She was in no respiratory distress, wasn't panting or whining and other than a slow, off affect seemed otherwise okay. I called the emergency vet as I was concerned mostly about increased eye pressures and glaucoma. She said it was RARE for both eyes to spontaneously display this and suggested I watch her throughout the night and if she was not better, bring her to our vet to be seen. I was up with her until nearly 4 am when she finally crawled into Dozer's bed with him and settled down to sleep. This morning I could see a bit more of her eyes but her left eye seemed swollen and was uncomfortable when I touched the area. There is also clear drainage from both eyes. We have an appointment at the vetspital in a hour and a half. I'm really worried about my freckly, crookedy leg girl. Two folks have suggested pink-eye or tooth issues. She just had a complete physical and dental in May with an extraction of an abscessed tooth followed by a course of antibiotics. I really appreciate some "nothing serious and easily fixed" drool to her...and her worried Mamaslave.
