[Dailydrool] Bounder Floyd ATB 4/1/2013

Floyd, our 16+ Basset boy is now ATB.  We helped him last night, with the
aid of our vet.  Floyd recently had some bladder stones issues, causing
obstruction.  We were able to catheterize him and push one back, but it was
not long before he was having trouble again.  The options of surgery were
not valid options to me due to his age.  So, we let this sweet big guy go to
be with his Bounder siblings.  

Floyd was given to me by his owner, as the wife did not want their toddler
crawling in dog hair.  I was told he liked being in the yard,  but we never
saw him liking to be in the yard.  I think the wife made him stay outside
and the owner tried to rationalize it this way.   Floyd, in our opinion,
never seemed to get over being dumped by the owner.  He never did really
bounce back and be happy.   I think he accepted his being with us, but not
sure he was ever happy, and that makes me sad for him and really angry at
his father for not having the courage to tell his wife Floyd was a part of
their family.

 

I am sure his father will see the post on FB I just did, and email me
crying.   He has contacted me several times and I have never said how I
really felt Floyd was doing, being sad and all.  I know it broke the guys
heart, he was sobbing when I left with Floyd, almost a year ago,  but damn
it,  he should have stood up for Floyd.    I said back then, to my friend
who went with me to get him,  I give that couple 5 years,  and then they
will be divorced.   If I were in his place,  no amount of sex, oh honey,
would EVER make me forget the ultimatum that was put there...and yes, he did
have an ultimatum.  I am sure he is disgusted with himself for making the
decision too.  I would say he just sold his soul to the Bitch.    

 

I say this here, cause there is nowhere else I can say it, where I know you
all will understand..or at least most of you.

 

Now, back to trying to be nice to people who dump their dogs for convenience
sake alone, have no moral compass, and basically, no compassion for others.
