[Dailydrool] Dogs and babies

Poor Floyd's story keeps making me think of my son and his wife - in a
good way.  They recently had a little girl - she is seven weeks old now,
and prior to that Sam the Aussie had always been the apple of their eye
and the center of attention.  We all wondered how Sam would react when a
new baby came home.  From the minute he saw her, Sam has LOVED the baby.
He is very attentive to her, standing at alert beside the crib, etc.  When
she would get diaper changes, Sam would stand there like he wanted
something.  Finally after a few days, they started kneeling down with her
after her diaper changes and Sam will lick the top of her tiny head.  Then
he is satisfied.  No fear of dog hair or dog germs around the baby in
their home.  It is so wonderful to see what can be and how much love they
have to give, even to a new member of the family.  I asked my
daughter-in-law how that might work some day when my granddaughter is
ready to head out the door for school and she has to lean over and let the
dog lick her head!  LOL
