Tramadol tastes NASTY! I can see why he won't eat- especially if you crush it. Cover it with cream cheese and give it to him. If he just spits it out that way- cover in cream cheese and put it way back in his throat. Then hold his head up while you hold his snooter closed. He will swallow it. 
Taste a Tramadol sometime- nasty loooong after it goes down, I have had to take them.
