Aloha Ron,
For some reason, my email to your email address didn't go through, so I'm posting some additional thoughts for Barney.
About four years ago, one of our hounds also developed bleeding ulcers, but the ulcers were lower in his intestinal tract--in his large intestine. Bo was also down to skin and bones before our vet got all the meds right. Bo has been on Metronidazole, Budesonide, and a stool softener for four years and his ulcerative colitis has been well under control. The right meds make a difference. In our case, the Budesonide made a huge difference! but since it is designed for ulcers in the lower intestinal tract (not the stomach), it might be irrelevant to Barney. My point? Keep on your vet's back until you have it solved. Although we live in a rural area on a relatively unpopulated island, our vet was in consultation with his vet school professors on the mainland until we got this solved. have hope, push medically, and don't give up. Best wishes, Val, Bo (the medically challenging hound) and Harley the healthy, in rural hawaii
