The diluted vinegar solution is a popular and easy method of ridding your yard of animal waste odors. I have also seen a recipe calling for half of a cup of vinegar mixed with a quarter cup wintergreen mouthwash into a spray bottle,  filling the balance of the spray bottle with water. 
 
I like using Odormute, which can be used both inside the house on floors, furniture, rugs, etc., as well as outside on the lawn and shrubs. It comes in powder form and is economical since 15 oz makes up 20 gallons. According to the manufacturer, it is non-poisonous, non-caustic, and harmless to plant life, humans. and pets.
