Be cautious when using pepper spray on an aggressive dog such as the one you describe, it could make it meaner. If you feel safer with pepper spray carry it but I would recommend wooden baseball bat. The bat is easy to swing one handed and it gives dog something to bite other than you or the dogs.  I would definitely go back and thank the neighbor for coming out to help.

From your message it sounds like you have tried talking to her with no luck. I know you do not want break her heart but the dog needs be put down as danger and let her keep the other two. I have watched 2 pit bulls walk up and attack a lady's dog, which was deaf and blind, while she frantically screamed at the dogs while on the phone. The dogs were just passing through the neighborhood when it happened and she had her dog on retractable leash. She was no help to her dogs and the attack was short. I called cops and she took her dog home. Neighbor out washing his car sprayed the dogs with water hose to end it.
