I think my vet called Anita and asked her to write this post.
Raccoon poop. I scoop it up almost every day out of our yard. We have citrus,
grapefruit and lemon and they yield twice a year, December and June. In mid
December I harvest about 800 grapefruit and take them down to the food bank.
That leaves around 500-600 more which the tree will hold as I slowly use them
until June when the next crop is ripe. In the summer there is much more food
but in December the grapefruit are highly prized among varmits, raccoons
especially.
Cyrus never tolerated the buggers coming around so this is the first year we're
having much of an issue. The hounds don't go out much at night. As a result I
find raccoon poop almost every morning. The vet says eating raccoon poop could
very easily cause the distress Snoopy suffered. And it could have been much
worse.
She said it is often fatal, just because once that bloody diarrhea starts it has
to be stopped and fast or else the dog will dehydrate and that is what kills
them. So watch those fur kids. Oh, and we're still waiting for him to have a
movement ..... 2 days now .... please continue to send good thoughts our way.
Thanks,
Dale
