She was a stray, so little is known about her past.?She does have hook worms, whip worms and an ear infection, but miraculously is heartworm free. Belle is being very kind and tolerant. We are working on housetraining this week, and it is going well. Her name is Taffy. She prefers the indoors and loves the couch and recliner.

We have had experience with two rescues that had been strays, the first
about 5y ago. She was an older dog, 8-10y, and apparently had been a
stray for a significant length of time. The other was a couple of
months ago. I don't think she was a stray for long. She is energetic
and I think got lost.
Anyway, as I see it the biggest issue with both is trust. It took a
while with Mabel, the older one. I would pet her and scratch her ears
every time I passed her, but it took a year or so for her to trust us.
Agatha, the recent rescue we got when Mabel died, is much more
responsive, perhaps as she is younger.
I voted just now in the Shelter Challenge with no problem for the
Wisconsin facility.
