Oh, Elizabeth...I am so sorry to read about Elsinore's issues, especially her "not just a fatty cycst" lump. You really do have a lot to discuss with Ken. I think I would allow them to aspirate the lump. While it isn't actual slices of tumor itself, it should give them some idea of what is going on. Most benign cysts present one way on aspirate, malignant ones, much differently. I wouldn't go the "debulking" route. Nothing would really be accomplished and it sounds like too many risks and complications. I would probably let them do the chest x-rays as well. At least cancer in her lungs could be ruled out. I think some medication to take the edge off her anxiety would be helpful for her and you. Other than that, it's a wait and see sort of thing until her blood results are back. One can always hope that it is something like her thyroid which can be helped by supplementing it.

I am one who doesn't like to borrow trouble. I believe in compassionate care - doing all one can to ease pain but not unnecessarily prolong life if there is no quality involved. I think you know your Elsinore well and between the two of you...and Ken, of course, will know what to do. Auntie Sandy Gaston may have some holistic suggestions as well. Reach out to her.

Our Bart kitty has an oral tumor which came out of the blue. We thought he had some dental issues which required a cleaning and possible tooth/teeth removal. They discovered the tumor, almost always malignant, when they were prepping him for surgery. We're devastated of course. We've been treating him with a stem cell supplement for pets called StemPet. I take the human version for my fibromyalgia. We mash it up and add it to his morning and evening canned food. He's still eating well and enjoying his life so we're taking it day by day. When and if, however, he appears to be in pain or having difficulty functioning, then we'll send him off to the Bridge.

Know that my thoughts, prayers and healing drool are with you and Elsinore...

Hugs, Sandi
