It's a good thing you took Phoebe's kennel cough seriously: It can turn into pnemonia. Before our rescue days, we got Jane from a (oh, I hate to say these words) pet store. She came to us with kennel cough. Though my vet treated it, Jane evidently needed one of the broad-spectrum antibiotics to really kick it out of her system. So we landed in the ER in the middle of the night when she was spitting up foam. (By the way, my vet was following protocol, and the X-ray she took just didn't show the area of pneumonia, because of the way Jane was lying.)

I can't believe your vet did not take this more seriously, especially if you mentioned that Phoebe had been in a kennel.
