[Dailydrool] Picky aged eater

Our 7-year-old Tina is doing the same thing, and like DP, DH is worried sick until she eats. I think part of the problem is that all the other dogs that make up our comparison population are/were total idiots about eating. Little/Big Charlie eats anything he sees, and eats so quickly that we have to feed him in a 12-hole muffin tin so he doesn't get a tummy ache. So, by comparison, "Tina might starve to death."

Tina recently had a nose-to-tail vet exam, including a senior blood-panel and urinalysis. The vet pronounced her very healthy and fit, in better shape than most of her other clients. That put my mind at ease, so if she wants to skip a meal, then so what.

Currently, we are mixing in a little peanut butter with her (expensive, human-grade) kibble. That does the trick, most of the time.

Having said all that, there were 2 other times she wouldn't eat when she was younger: once because of a bad tooth, and once because she had uveitis, a painful eye condition. So a vet visit might be in order.

Nancy, Tina-Weena, and Little/Big Charlie
