Our Maddie did this a few weeks ago and there is no way that she got into
any extra food. One of us always stays and watches them eat so that they
each get to finish their own food so she didn't have any of Rocky's and
there is absolutely no way she can get into the container of kibble that we
feed them from..
One night Maddie was wimpering while she was watching TV with us and
when she did get up to move, we noticed that her sides were extended and
her tummy was hard as a rock. So off to the emergency vet she and I went and
after x-rays they said she had food bloat. She stayed overnight with
fluids and by morning was ready to come home. They sent some Tramadol home
with her but I only gave her one and then she was fine.. They said she got
this from eating too fast and swallowing too much air while gobbling and
suggested that we get her one of those special dishes that force them to eat
slower. She does not like this dish much but does eat a lot slower. Her
vet bill for this visit was $857 and this was after a bill two days
earlier for Rocky for $700 plus for another attack of bloody diarrhea.
