Dale, cysts are just pockets which fill with gunk, be it blood, oily matter
or infection. When they rupture and drain they shrink in size and
eventually heal. That being said, however, if the cyst itself isn't removed
but just ruptures (or is lanced by the vet) the potential for it to fill
again with yucky stuff exists. The only surefire way to stop the problem is
to remove it completely.  In Gracie's case, you're probably doing the best
for her that you can considering the location by simply keeping an eye on
it in case it gets larger, or if it opens, letting it drain and keeping it
clean so it doesn't get infected.  Trust me, if it's infected you'll
know...by the look and smell of it.  Those usually require oral
antibiotics.

It's amazing to think that beautiful Gracie came with all those issues.  To
see her now you'd never know.  It's amazing what love and care does, isn't
it?
