[Dailydrool] Removing Dog Nails

I have one with mostly black nails, too, and he is my only one of four with dew claws. I very carefully

take a little off at a time. I did get carried away once, and he did have one bloody toe, but we usually

do OK.

I have heard that de-clawing cats is like slicing the ends of your fingers off, and not to be taken lightly.

It does not sound very humane to me.

I used to have a vet who decided to cut my boxer's nails WAY short when she was under for a dental. To

this day, not sure why--that dog was in pain for 10 days-2 weeks.

I don't know if you could justify it by saying putting a dog through it, they heal, and never have to have

their nails cut again. I can't. And I haven't ever heard of it. Or known of any dogs it has been done to--and

I have seen literally hundreds of dogs come through rescue. I would be very interested if any Droolers have ever had this done.

"I'm not about to rush anywhere, and have this done, but it does give me
something to think about. I have heard many people talk about taking claws
from cats, but from Dogs, especially Basset Hounds? Has anyone ever heard
of such a thing? My friend said that their friends Basset lived a normal
happy nail free life, and that it never caused many problems."
