We are sending loads of healing drool to Harley and some no-worry drool to
you. We hope he survives the bloat scare and makes a quick recovery. It is
quite a scary thing to deal with and there is no known "for-sure" reason
why it happens. Some people think it has to do with playing after eating;
some say it happens from swallowing air when they eat or drink; and then
other people have dogs who do it in their sleep when they aren't eating,
drinking or playing.

Personally we wet the dogs food with hot water so the kibble expands
outside, rather than inside their bellies. Does it help? Who knows. But
better safe than sorry. We also keep liquid infant gas-x (simethecone) on
hand which can be given orally and absorbed immediately. It can help them
burp or pass gas to release some of the gas building in their intestines.

All we can do is know the signs to look for, and be vigilant when we see
symptoms.

Although you've now seen it and know what it looks like, here is a good
youtube video of a dog bloating, to show what it can look like.

I also have this link saved although I don't know if I could find the spot,
under pressure. Still something to try.

Best of luck and lots of good thoughts coming for Harley.
