[Dailydrool] Tilly's parasites

I did not know of the lack of studies on Trifexis.  All 3 of ours are on it!

 

Tilly's stool grew Eimeria and STRONGYLE.  I have never heard of these and
have not experienced any of my dogs through the years with these.  Anyone
else had experience?

 

The treatment is 5 days of Fenbendazole.  I have been creative to soak up
small pieces of bread with the chalky, tasteless substance, putting it on
the bottom of the feeding bowls and dumping their food on top. I add a
little treat, cheese, banana or jelly to keep them licking their bowls so
all of the drug is licked up good!  Since my dogs are all over 50 lbs, the
dose is a large amount.  I have been breaking the dose in half and giving it
12 hours apart since I feed twice a day!  Ok'd it with the Vet.

 

This morning I saw the likely source of infection: a 60 lbish raccoon in my
yard!  There are dumpsters on both sides of our property, since they are
building behind us and across the street from us.  Workmen, of course, are
dumping food in them and it is scattered all around the street and my yard!


 

Always so much to fill that worry spot!

 

In addition, my husband is having complications from diverticulitis and is
awaiting surgery in 2 weeks.  Not an easy surgery!

 

I'm holding on to my faith and my friends on the drool to get me through all
