ANY OTHERS? COME CHIME IN.

Monday, we're taking Sydney back in to the vet's. She still eats only
about a third or less of her normal ration, no matter what exotic thing
we add. He ran every test he has the facilities to do, and all
indicators were in "normal" range.
This has been going on since May 15. Over 3 weeks. Vet went over each
tooth with a fine-tooth comb, looking for cracks, sores, looseness,
breaks. NOTHING. Also check the mouth and throat. Suggested Carpophen
(Rimayl) in case of undectected pain affecting appetite. Also tried
Cerenia to no avail.

Howsomever..... an aspect that has become more apparent in past few days
is an enlarged abdomen. Don't mean bloat. Looks sorta pregnant (11 years
old and spayed for 10 of those, so NOT happening). When she walks her
abdomen swings from side to side. If you look down at her, it noticeably
bulges on each side -- not the smooth fat-tube-like look of an
overweight dog -- the loins have a noticeable tuck in. It's like she's
carrying bellyful of water or ?

As far as water goes, she drinks but not excessively. She ACTS as though
she's eager to eat, but finds the offering distasteful when she gets to
it. She will eat scrambled eggs one day and not the next. I made a
truckload of meatballs just for her (ground beef, slightly beaten eggs,
bread crumbs, a hint of garlic. She ate the first offering (only 3 --
tho I told "The morning feeder" to give her 6) but the next time whe
wouldn't eat any of them.

An hour or so after feeding time, she sometimes will act as tho she
"wants something" and we ransack the cupboards and fridge looking for
possiblities. They never turn out to be anything previosly offered --
vienna sausage, which normally is only use to poke pills into or an
occasonal toast crust is a winner, but we prefer to hang on to it for
pill giving. The meatloaf sold in the refrigerated portion of the
dogfood aisle is food she will eat...up to a point.

Wonder if she'd like Ramen noodles (at leas theyre CHEAP) -- I eat them
offen. I also like them. Am thinking of buying liver tomorrow, cutting
it up and not let it get all dry and nasty. It definitely has a meaty
taste amd might help ???????? We have to be careful because our two
problem dogs do not like RAW meat.

To further elucidate and confuse; her attitude is good at dinner time; ;
she is eager and the disappointment only appears when the nose his the pan.

It's like "Aw, geeze, I thought it would be GOOD. And I think I need it.
But I just can make myself swallow that awful stuff. IT'S NASTY!!!! EEEUUUU.

The only successful thing so far has been canned white chunk ckicken
(canned seemes preferered over home cooked, tho she will nibble on the
home cooked.)
On MORE SERIOUS NOTE, I'M CONCEREND ABOUT ANY CONDITIONS YOU KNOW OF
THAT RESULT IN THIS PENDULUM-BELLY IN A BASSET ) or any other dog that
continues to be happy-go-lucky, pees normally, drinks normally and
sleeps almost all the time, but thas a very obvous swaying belly that
looks as if it might have two milk jugs sloshing around in there.
