[Dailydrool] another BAGS $5 Friday houndie

Buddy is 11 - he was one of our senior pawtners earlier
this year and now he's one of our $5 Friday hounds.
Here's his sad story:

Buddy lost his home this year when his family had to move in with relatives after losing their home due to medical expenses. The human 5 year old boy has been undergoing treatment for kidney cancer since he was 3. Buddy now 11, was said to be painful with arthritis and just liked to sleep, and also deaf. Buddy does not have arthritis; he couldn't move without hurting for sure, but it was from his skin splitting and bleeding every time he moved. His skin was like brittle tissue paper. The little boy told me he has a little bit of a skin infection too. Buddy had a flea infestation, and had more bald spots than fur. Buddy had never seen a vet in his entire life. Although he was absolutely miserable, it was only what he was used to, and was devastated when I got him in the car. We both cried all the way to the vet, for different reasons, but I felt like the bad guy for sure. He had a kidney and prostate infection as well.Once we removed years of wax and treated his infected ear canals, Buddy can hear just fine! Fast forward 5 months, and Buddy has a beautiful coat of fur and seems very proud when he is brushed. He no longer fear bites when you touch him, he isn't in pain anymore and can do a pretty fast lap around the yard, ending with a flop on his back for a belly rub. The vet says his transformation has been a heartwarming experience to witness. He is quite a talker, whether visiting the vet, or getting ready for "eat time", Buddy shares his happiness for all who want to listen. Now it's time to work on Buddy's smile. He had a few teeth extracted during his neuter because of the severity of their condition. He needs a thorough cleaning and polishing, and more extractions to keep Buddy healthy and pain free.
