I wrote recently about Hank's ear flaps being covered in concrete drool gunk and got several replies with good ideas, all of which I tried: Self Rinse, Furminator, soaking etc. Nothing did the job without removing his hair.
The other day Hank had a bad stomach upset which caused him to throw up his lovely dinner and the gallon of water he drinks along with it. There was a large puddle of "goodness" which he was busily re-eating/licking. His ears of course we're dragging in the puddle, all this going on for some minutes before I was alerted and gathered my clean-up tools. He threw up several times before he got whatever out of his system (he was fine after a while). What I discovered while I was cleaning him up is that his ears were coming clean!!
I hypothesized that the stomach acid was softening the gunk and maybe vinegar would do the same. After all, it works on hard water deposits which are similar to concrete. So today I made a dilute vinegar solution and used it on his ears and it also was effective. I think I have found the solution to Hank's particular brand of epoxy drool.
