Great job, Hal! It sounds like you really have Dad on a short leash. :)

Cowboy has us trained really well also and we were just commenting on it
this weekend. I truly worry that if we ever died, our friends and family
granted the privilege to care for the dogs in our absence, would fall so
very short of ever meeting Cow's expectations.

The dogs always get a "topping" on their kibble. When dad feeds, it is
generally shredded cheese or some torn up lunchmeat. They usually eat what
he gives them.

When I do it, it's made with love and always gets eaten. This involves a
1/4 tsp of coconut oil, a capsule of fish oil, some cheese or meat, and a
splash of hot water, sometime with something else even more scrumptious.

This weekend I was preparing dinner for the boys. Cowboy was lying in the
living room, watching me, while Rupert anxiously circled my feet. The
topping turned out to be leftover steak.

So, I mix up the cuisine and go put Ru's bowl down. He doesn't hesitate and
immediately goes to town on his bowl.

Cowboy remains lying in the living room, eyeing me as if to question what I
crap he was supposed to eat tonight.
I make eye contact and tell him, "it's steak, come and eat your food before
Ru gets to it." Cowboy remains lying there, watching me.
I toss a piece of steak his way, so he knows what's in store for him. He
eats it from lying position and doesn't move. Just stares.
So, I put down his bowl and go around the corner out of eyesight. He
immediately hops up and comes to his bowl to eat.
He was seriously just testing me to see if I'd offer something better, or
to pretend like steak just wasn't good enough.

I swear, these dogs. They're hilarious and ornery and ridiculous all at
once.

Drool on,
Kacy with Cow and Ru
