[Dailydrool] Friends?

Before Llewis died he and Doc were BFFs. They would sit outside at the
fence for a long time, Llewis snoozing in the sun and Doc waiting for the
neighbor's aging border collie to run the fence with him.
Then Llewis left and everything changed.
Doc began tormenting Conley who fought back.
Time outside was limited to peeing and back in.
Doc was clearly lonely and Conley clearly VERY annoyed.

Very slowly Doc has begun being a little more independent. He is apt to
stay out by himself now, either by the fence or right near the house. He
still torments Conley, Doc wants to play and Conley does not. But it has
gotten much better.

And then yesterday it happened!
The boys were outside together and suddenly I became aware that they had
been out awhile. I went to the kitchen window to look out and there....by
the fence... sat Doc, and about 4 feet away sat Conley. Not doing anything,
just hanging out TOGETHER (more or less.)

I could have wept. Maybe I did a little it seemed so right to see them not
fighting, not growling, not being adversarial. Being FREINDLY. Sort of.
It's a paw in the right direction.  I hope.
