[Dailydrool] buster brown basset hound

 the world is an emptier place today.  buster brown basset hound, as he is formally known, left me on april fools.  the boy had been declining for a while, and let me know that it was finally time.  he is survived by his "sister" sally who, and his new "brother" dexter.  buster, who arrived on april fools day 2007,  at 1.s, was a foster failure from mid atlantic basset rescue.  he was bounced from a family who had recently adopted and then unadopted him.  his separation anxiety and intelligence were too much for them.  he came beari.ng a slip of paper stating he was "unadoptable."
his original owners had a pizza place on staten island , ny.  buster adored, no worshipped 'maters.  raw, green, in sauce, on pizza, in chili.you name it he loved them. he had no problem fighting with folks over a bag of them.  he was extremely agile and used that to climb to any extreme to counter surf.  if he truly loved you then he walked across your table while you were eating.  yea, he was a wild child.  loved agility.
buster could "sing or bay" on command.  we would go to rescue events and do our routine of "i bet I could get my dog to sing for you for $1, and if he doesn't i'll give you back your $1 and another one."  never had to give one back.  we made hundreds of dollars.  from 2007 -2013.   usually dressed in a costume.  he was vain.  he loved it.
I fell for him immediately.  something I never did with any of the countless dogs I fostered.  he fell for me.  we were a pair.  he will be missed.  we was so urban that at first when we would go camping in the wilds of nh , he would sit on the table and refuse to hike unless we walked in town. the past 2 summers he had become one of the spokes dog's for the campground I work at.
he was a demon, but he was my demon.  too smart, too agile, too much of a counter surfer , just plain too much, but just plain, just buster.  and he leaves behind a huge hole.   buster brown basset hound  4/1/2007 - 4/1/2016
