Here in Missouri we have a leash law but some neighbors let their dogs run
the neighborhood and no one complains. But my dogs have an acre yard with a
privacy fence around it and they hardly ever leave it except to go to the
vet. They have some wooded areas in our yard where they hunt varments and
mostly they are in the house on the couches. I could walk them any time of
day on a leash but they really prefer to just stay home they get nervous
outside of their yard. Dogs are allowed in certain stores like Hardware
stores and PETCO but not in restaurants or grocery stores. Not in clothing
stores either. I never take my dogs to off leash parks because I do not want
them catching diseases from non vaccinated dogs. WE had a big problem with
the dog flu in Missouri this past year and I asked my vet about it when I
went and he said the best way to prevent it is not let them around other
dogs. I keep mine at home in the yard and house I have a dog door and when
it rains my house gets muddy but the dogs are well and spoiled I would hate
to live in a place where dogs were confined to not going on walks at certain
times of day I enjoy neighbors walking their dogs up and down the streets I
love to see their doggies and my dogs bark at them through the picture
window. But if you live in an apartment or certain areas here your dog has
to be under 20 lbs. I have six dogs maybe if I had only one I would want
them to socialize but they all seem to play with each other and they form a
pack when a rabbit hops by and they generally all are happy.
