[Dailydrool] Miscellaneous rambling

Oh, my goodness, I somehow missed the sad news that Thelma Lou and William
and Jelly Bean had all reported for bridge duty. Deep condolences to their
people and other critters -- it does not matter how long they are with us,
it is never long enough.

About grain free food -- Bev, I don't think the grass eating is a search
for grain, really, since they're grazing on the grass rather than getting
the seeds. We make dogfood for ours, and they eat half that and half Arcana
(which is made in Alberta, next province over to us). They do brilliantly
and both graze like crazy. Paddi grazes more adeptly than Simba the
Formosan Mountain Dog -- he does graze but rather awkwardly, while Paddi is
more the happily-munching tri-colored cow type.

Paddi B is 12 now, and we are noticing that her sight is becoming quite
limited. She has cataracts, quite visibly. Some work we're doing on the
house required us to remove a board in the deck, and she really gave it a
hard look before she'd step over the gap... she came really close to it,
bent her head down and peered, etc. She mostly sees through her nose
anyway, so we're not worried. I did of course cry because she is my puppy
and I don't want to see any signs of aging. (She's the first pup I ever
had, and will likely be the last -- not the last dog I'm sure, but they
seem to keep arriving fully-grown and with Issues, and since I'm fine with
that but not so thrilled with chewing, I'll leave the pups to others.)

with Paddi B Basset ("you're deaf and blind in your nose and you manage
fine!)
and Simba, the bleke dog,
and Clio the cat
