[Dailydrool] The Hole Problem

We've got a whole lotta hole problems. We've been in this house for 4 years, but just in the past 4 months or so, Lola has started digging holes. Trenches, actually. Impressive excavations. While I admire her skill and determination in going after the chipmunks or voles or whatever is out there, Lola's projects do not mesh with my landscaping aesthetic. In fact, there are currently no fewer than 10 destruction zones underway in my yard. The little ditch-digger is like a construction foreman--each time she goes out she makes the rounds to each location to see how it's coming along. Even when we had the big blizzard two weeks ago, Lola was out there pawing through 20 inches of snow and 6-8 inches of dirt to bark at the rascally rodents.
Any ideas why she has taken up this hobby after all this time? More importantly, any ideas how to get her to stop?
