You are not paranoid you are alert.
Dog parents generally know when their dogs are off.
We know when something is not quite right, no matter what the Vet says
about the dog being "neurotic"  or something else similarly dismissive.
It is imperative to listen to what your instinct says.
Have his thyroid checked if you do nothing else.
