[Dailydrool] Hiding Pills

I haven't posted much and for a loooong time, but thought I'd chime in on the pill hiding thread.

My crew are EXPERTS at avoiding pills.  I've tried meatballs and cheese and cream cheese and hot dogs and Lord knows what else, but somebody always foils the plan, and then we have to do the "cram the pill down the gullet and hold the choppers shut till they swallow" technique, which I find rather invasive and not terribly "incentivizing" for future pill episodes.  I have a pill "shooter", and it is just about useless.  So...

I have discovered that EXTRA-crunchy peanut butter (I use hid--it has no bad sweeteners in it) does a marvelous job in  getting even the nastiest tasting pills (like tramadol) into the kids.  I make little PB sandwiches (cut a regular PB sandwich in quarters or even sixths), and put the pill(s) inside.  Make the sandwich rather generous with the PB.  The texture, with the extra chunks of peanuts, makes it hard for the dog to find the pill to spit it out, and they just eat their special treat.  The bread helps them keep from getting "glued" with the PB, and mine just sort of eat their sandwich treat whole.
