Our Horton has been less than perfect on training. Finally I figured out 
that he only has a problem when another dog in the house cannot hold it. 
So recently I put a belly bend on him, and he's returned to his perfect 
pottying habits. Sometimes that's all it takes. But I think I would also 
check with the vet and see if your dog's blood work (which I assume was 
done before the dental) came back with any issues.
