OOps--part of my hand hit the send button before I finished the email.

So last night we had company and I wasn't watching the bowls as I set them down, as I was talking to a visitor. Unpredictably, Mila rushed Mariah's bowl and started eating. Mariah apparently said "hmmph" and moved directly to the second feeding station and began eating what ordinarily would have been Ipo's dinner, and at this point Ipo started furiously pacing and whining and looked panicky. This is when I noticed the problem, an tried to direct Ipo to the third feeding station (Mila's) to eat that bowl of food. Ipo would have no part of it. so I tried to feed Ipo on the lanai. Ipo would not consider it and was getting more upset by the minute. Finally, when both bassets were done eating, I shooed them both outside and gave Ipo her bowl at her own feeding station. She settled right back down again.

It made me appreciate how much regular order and routine helps very anxious dogs lead calmer lives.
