Today we celebrate Duncan’s Gotcha Day. We don’t know his birthday so we’ll treat it as a birthday. This means steaks and bacon wrapped scallops all around!

Duncan is a great hound. He is charming and needy with a stare that will melt your heart. Everyone one falls in love with him. When my youngest was having her evaluation done, her three evaluators were very distracted by him. I had the baby gate up and he whined, he stared, he did everything he could to get them over to the baby gate so they could pet him. Then my oldest opened the gate and he trotted right over and sat in the closet lap for a good pet. Each time I convinced to get up he would find another lap until all three got their turns petting him. I felt bad because one of the evaluators was a little strict about timing but even she couldn’t stop petting him. 

Duncan Has always been this way. I remember the day we went to Daphneyland. I wasn’t too sure we should get another basset so soon after Speedy but the DH insisted we needed one. We went with the strictest instruction that the basset chooses us and if no basset climbed in our laps then we would wait. Two of them climbed in our laps but Duncan had a hold on the DH. The day I went to pick him up. He was the first basset we saw at the gate. Being held like a baby on the shoulder of a volunteer, happy as a clam. He does love to snuggle and be treated like a baby. 

Rambo and him are best friends. They don’t go out with one another and if one goes out and not the other it’s an endless going back and forth, opening the door and closing it because neither one wants to give in but they don’t want to be apart either. It’s actually kinda annoying. “Make Up Your Minds!” is what I want to yell at them. Duncan gets Rambo to play more and Rambo lost some much needed weight. 

Overall adding Duncan was the best thing we did after Speedy passed. He brings so much joy and silliness to our home.
