[Dailydrool] a new boy

First of all I would like to thank everyone who contacted me after we lost our wonderful Cooper.   I was not able to respond to everyone individually but did certainly appreciate hearing the kind words from everyone.   It is so devastating to lose them.  
And now for the good news - we have adopted a 7-year old guy named Dino from Basset Hound Rescue of Southern California.   He is another big boy, 78 pounds, just like Cooper was.   But, of course, he has his own personality and quirks.    He was in a wonderful foster home down there for about 4-5 weeks before I drove down to get him.   We are in Central California so it was about a 4 1/2 hour drive.   Coming home was about a 6/12 hour drive since we stopped at multiple rest areas for him to walk around and do his thing.  
It was one week ago today that I brought him home and he has already settled in nicely.   He did not know how to use a doggy door but learned that right away.   Well, almost right away - he caught on how to come back in right away but it took him a few tries to go out without me holding the doggy door open a little for him.  He'e very laid back and mellow.   He didn't seem to know how to play but his new dad is teaching him how to do that.   
He's the 8th basset to have joined our family and each and every one of them has been so special.  It's a wonderful breed!
