This is a special message from Paddi B Basset to those at the Bridge.

My long-legged companion, Simba the Formosan Mountain Dog, took leave for
the bridge on Friday evening. (Mary notes: He had lymphoma, and suffering
was beginning, and so we had to say farewell.) I did not give him
permission to leave. He had good hearing and peepers and I have neither any
more, though I still smell better than he did.

Anyway, it is Possible that he will come by, looking for his old friend
Vernon Q Basset. Please make him welcome, and then encourage him to race
off at restored lightening-like speed to find the Formosan Mountain Dog
area, where there will no doubt be great heaps of rice and Kung Pow Chicken
(without the kung pow) and other foods most beloved by most beloved
Formosan Mountain Dogs.

Paddi thanks you for your consideration.
And so do I. My heart is broken, rather, but it isn't the first time and
won't be the last. He was the most spectacular success as a two-week foster
that lasted six or seven years -- not a failure at all.
