basset therapy dogs rule!!!!
i know from dexter that bassets make excellent therapy dogs.  they are so approachable, and their size just makes it so easy for kids to get so close to them.  nothing about a basset looks scary.  the ears, body, feet...nothing.  it's a train wreck of goofiness!
dexter got called last week to respond to a DBART call (the NH state crisis response team   he is one of 2 dogs in the state that respond) he is the one they call for schools because he just works magic in them.  he will sing for the kids, and search out treats in the classroom.  the best yet tho is that they can sit on the floor and just surround him with love and pet him.  he actually hums and will get so relaxed he'll fall asleep.  
his work is amazing.   if your basset shows signs of being a great therapy dog, i whole heartedly suggest you pursue it.
