[Dailydrool] elbow displesia

When ever I need a second opinion for my boys (rescues from BROOD) I always
make arrangements to take them to the primary vet the rescue uses. Brood
did 115+ dogs in the past year, I would be willing to bet 90% went through
brood's primary vet ... 100 Bassets per year for at least the past 5 years..
I'd say they've seen much more than any average vet...

So I'd suggest the same for you.. get with your closest basset rescues..
find out where they take the bulk of their hounds.. and see if you can get a
second read.... if your vet is on the more "advanced" track.. they may have
your XRays already digitized, and can give them to you on a CD .. so you
could mail them to the vets if needed.

I tend to be on the cautious side ... especially when it comes to the
supposed "elbow incongruity" ... I would tell the doc, that you want to wait
a little, and that "when you mentioned it to the rescue"... the rescue asked
if they could get a copy of the XRays for their own vets ... ie make it seem
less your uncertainty and more of the rescue was worried about the hound..
(that is... assuming she's from rescue?)

Good Luck !!

Subject: [Dailydrool] elbow displesia

Has anyone ever had a problem with elbow displesia (sp)? I took my 6 month
basset to the vet (one we have been going to for 18 years) and had him take
xrays of Dixie. She just started to limp and we wanted to check out what
was going on. We asked him about Pano, and he was familiar with it.
