I apologize for getting sending this so late, but I am SO far behind in my DD readings that I finally read this post... my groomer has been trained in this technique and all of my hounds and my first dog (a pom-chi mix) have never had a problem with it. My Erika (the pom-chi) was 16 years old when she had her teeth cleaned this way and went home and ate dinner that night without any problems!!

The groomer now does a "monthly maintenance" on my girls when they get groomed and their teeth are amazing! They are always complemented on their bright smiles!!

If you find someone who has been certified to do this, it is well worth the money!! We highly recommend it at our house!!
